Understanding Addiction
Addiction involves an intense craving for something, the inability to control its use, and continuing involvement with it despite destructive consequences. It can subvert the way your brain registers pleasure, and can then corrupt one’s critical motivators, such as the drive to learn or succeed. Additions come in many forms. In addition to alcohol and drugs/narcotics many other pleasurable activities can be addicting, such as eating, gambling, shopping, and sex.
